The report, "Recovery Act Investments: Transforming America's Transportation Sector," documents how Recovery Act funds are being matched with private capital to create new jobs, construct new plants, add new manufacturing lines, install electric vehicle charging stations across the country and help build the emerging domestic electric vehicle industry from the ground up.
DOE Announces $30 Million in New Small Business Funding to Help Commercialize Clean Energy Technologies
Washington, DC - U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced today that $30 million in funding from the Recovery Act and FY 2010 budget appropriations will be made available to qualified small businesses to support the commercialization of promising new technologies. Today's funding announcement builds on the Department's existing efforts under the Small Business Innovation Research program (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer program (STTR) to develop near-term clean energy technologies and support American small businesses that will play an important role in building the clean energy economy of the future. This is the first time DOE has offered Phase III awards under these small business programs.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that Massachusetts will receive $58.6 million to turn around its persistently lowest achieving schools through the School Improvement Grants (SIG) program. These funds are part of the $3.5 billion that will be made available to states this spring from money set aside in the 2009 budget and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Oregon to Receive More Than $74 Million in Additional Recovery Funds
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $74,633,845 is now available for Oregon under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. To date, Oregon has received $1,091,491,291 through the ARRA. The state recently reported that recovery dollars have been used to provide funding for more than 3,600 education jobs from Jan. 1 to March 31, 2010, while also supporting programs that drive education reform.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Announces Initial $20.3 Million For North Carolina High-Speed Rail
Amount Represents First Installment on $545 Million from Recovery Act
In January, President Obama announced that North Carolina was awarded $545 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to continue its development of high-speed intercity rail. Today, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation and the State of North Carolina have finalized a grant agreement for $20.3 million, the first installment of the $545 million awarded to the state.
US Department of Labor announces 2010 Trade Adjustment Assistance 2nd distribution funding
$119.6 million for states to assist workers impacted by foreign trade
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor today announced $119.6 million in funding allocations for Trade Adjustment Assistance to states to assist workers who lose their jobs due to outsourcing and foreign trade. These allocations are from the second distribution for fiscal year 2010 and represent, along with previously distributed initial allocation and reserve requests, approximately 90 percent of the total amount available for TAA training for this year.
